Packing
Account for every picked piece, close each shipping unit, and obtain carrier labels before the order reaches the ramp.
Take a picked order
Packing starts after the order becomes Picked. On the handheld, scan the trolley code to claim its order. An order another packer holds cannot be taken. The packing screen compares the quantity picked per line with the quantity already packed. Its remaining quantity is your checklist: every picked piece must end up in a shipping unit.
One order can produce several units. A unit may be a parcel carton, a pallet, or one article shipped in its original packaging. The trolley continues to carry the order until packing is complete.
Choose suitable packaging
The carton suggestion considers the remaining pieces that need a carton, starts with larger pieces, and selects a carton using product dimensions and an 80% volume allowance. The grouping targets a 20 kg goods limit for parcels. Check the proposed contents and packaging before confirming.
Articles marked to ship in their own packaging do not need an extra carton. Scan each piece separately; it becomes a closed shipping unit with its own carrier booking. A carton already open for other articles stays open. Pallet units require a measured height from 1 to 300 centimetres when closing; measure from the floor.
Pack, close, and label each unit
Scan the product and record the quantity placed into the open unit. Use its EAN if present, otherwise its article number. The product code must correspond to a picked line, and the quantity cannot exceed what remains to pack. A wrongly packed item can be removed while the unit is open. Close the unit when its contents are complete.
Closing assigns an SSCC, calculates weight from the goods plus the packaging tare, and requests a carrier booking. A successful booking supplies the tracking number and opens a PDF label for printing. If booking fails, the unit stays closed; use Book with the carrier again after resolving the carrier error. An SSCC identifies the unit inside the Warehouse; the tracking number identifies its journey with the carrier.
- Open a shipping unit with the chosen packaging, or use own packaging.
- Scan and pack the pieces assigned to that unit.
- Close the unit, providing pallet height when requested.
- Obtain its carrier label, then repeat until no picked pieces remain unpacked.
Finish the whole order
The handheld marks the order Packed automatically when the last piece is accounted for and no unit remains open. You can also confirm completion explicitly. An open unit or remaining pieces block completion. The order’s trolleys are then available for another order, and waiting buffer trolleys move up to the freed stations.
A closed unit and a packed order are different milestones. Shipping also requires a carrier label. If a unit is closed but has no tracking number, resolve the booking before expecting it to appear as a package ready for handover.
Bring closed units to an outbound gate
Closed units packed at a station stay there until moved to an outbound gate. Parcels wait together in a roll container; shipping pallets stand alongside it. The Roll containers list on the handheld Packing start and completion screens shows the station, unit count, container fill, pallets, and suggested gate.
Use the Bring to button showing the suggested gate code to move all waiting closed units from that station together. The system chooses the first unblocked outbound gate with staging space, or the least occupied one if every gate is full. This move does not hand anything to the carrier. Packages still at a packing station cannot be scanned into a pickup.
