Troubleshooting
Start with the last completed step. A waiting order usually has an unfinished task, an unavailable location, or a message that needs attention.
An order stays Open
Check when it arrived, its delivery date, and its ERP-to-WMS send status. The default release window is 60 minutes, and the delivery must be due by the next weekday. An order placed from 14:00 or at the weekend has a later planned delivery date, so it can remain Open even after the change window has elapsed. Friday releases Monday deliveries; weekend orders planned for Tuesday wait until Monday.
If the order exists only in the ERP, inspect its WMS send error and the corresponding inbound message. If it exists in the WMS and is due, release also depends on the scheduled release run.
A released order cannot be picked
Inspect the pick list for ready, replenishment, and clarification work. A reserved pallet in reserve storage must first reach a picking location. A replenishment task with no destination needs a free, unblocked picking place in the same Warehouse.
If you cannot claim the list, check its assigned picker. If a trolley is rejected, it may be blocked or already carry another unfinished order. If the task is in clarification, the control room must resolve it before that pick can continue.
There is stock, but a line is short
Check the free stock in the rack at the time of release, not just today’s on-hand total. Stock at inbound gates, stock on blocked locations, blocked articles, and quantities reserved for other orders cannot cover a new line. The line must be covered in full; partial availability does not create a partial reservation at release.
Received stock may still need putaway. Picked stock belongs to an existing order. Stock received after release does not automatically undo a line already marked short. Use the order’s lines and movement history to understand the sequence.
Packing or shipping will not finish
For packing, check the trolley’s station or buffer position, who holds the order, open units, and remaining unpacked pieces. The crew leaves buffer trolleys to move up when a station becomes free. A pallet unit needs its measured height before closing. Every picked piece must be in a closed unit before the order can become Packed.
For shipping, check that every unit has a carrier label and that the order is completely packed. Use Book with the carrier again for a failed booking, and the Bring to button in Roll containers for units still at a packing station. A scan alone does not hand over a package: close the pickup. If the order still shows Packed afterward, inspect whether another unit has not yet been handed over.
A received pallet stays at the gate
Open Putaway tasks and inspect the suggested destination and assignee. No destination usually means no suitable reserve place is free. Occupied, blocked, and task-held locations are excluded.
If a scan is rejected, verify that the destination is a reserve location in the pallet’s Warehouse. Putaway allows a different valid free reserve place; replenishment requires the assigned picking destination.
Two systems show different progress
Compare the same order number or article number and inspect the latest messages. ERP availability and the stock the WMS can reserve measure different things, so they need not be identical. A WMS order that is Shipped can also be Delivered in the ERP.
Read the integration error before resending. Administrators can retry supported messages, but a resend cannot solve invalid data or create physical capacity. If no work is advancing at all, check the crew shift and, for a local installation, that the application scheduler is running.
